about streetkidz. The organisation was set setup in 2009 by Jayne Murray and Arthur McNeaney to help underprivileged kids and communities, throughout Scotland. The organisation intends to help fund the countless ground level charities and community organisations that work tirelessly and usually underfunded, to help underprivileged kids from deprived areas within your community! Streetkidz believes in endorsing the use of music and the creative arts to give kids more choices in life and something more to focus their abundance of energy on. We also believe that music and the arts could be the way forward in the struggle against violent gang crime by bridging the gaps between the various gangs that are promenant within all our communities. In promoting this theory we hope to fund music studios and multimedia suites within existing community groups all over scotland . We currently have plans in 2010 to fund the DRC Youth group with the refurbishment of their barely used music studio which already caters for up to 60 kidz, girls and boys, from 8 - 16 yrs old. There has already been a great response here to DJ workshops and multimedia design and we hope to have proper classes in all diciplines by late summer 2010. Streetkidz is funded by sales of Puzzpad. Puzzpad is a product that is designed, developed and produced by McNeaney & Murray Enterprise. It began as a wire-bound A6, diary/notebook with puzzles, IQ tests, riddles, facts and quotes to enjoy each day. It has now evolved into a tourist souvenir item and a social health booklet which has been getting great response from local and national charity organisations that work closely with kidz in underprivileged areas. Streetkidz also fundraises using various other activities that happen in and around Glasgow all year round. We launched in October 2009 with a stall at the very popular annual student event, Scotcampus in George square. Since then we regularly have a stall at Sloans Market in Glasgow city centre which now runs from fri - sun every week. We will also be taking part in various fun runs throughout the year to try and gather up as much money as possible to be distributed at the end of the year.
As mentioned before, we already support and work closely with Community Links Scotland and their Streetlinks project. They issue our Puzzpad Health Diary to the kids they currently work with. This helps educate the kidz in a fun and unchastising way covering key issues such as ; Alcohol awareness Drug awareness Sexual health Personal safety while also developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
